Can Irlen Syndrome (visual processing) affect DRIVING? YES as Depth Perception is often an issue for those with this syndrome.
Julia came to the Krist Samaritan Irlen Clinic, Houston/Galveston, for Irlen glasses to help with her SAT (college admission test). However, when her personalized Irlen color was found, she was surprised to see items in the environment had shifted and ‘normalized’ so she could tell how near they actually were to her. She could also correctly judge how near 3 objects (trees) were to her relative to each other, which she couldn’t do when she took off the colored lenses.
Her mom Karen, immediately told me that this could explain the trouble they were having with her learning to drive which was “frightening”. Watch the VIDEO to see the comments of mom and daughter!
