Why do you need a YEARLY CHECK of your Irlen colored glasses? To make sure that you have the BEST BRAIN possible!
Tabitha is 20 years old and came to the Krist Irlen Clinic Houston/Galveston for her yearly Filter check.
Just as you would check yearly if an optical prescription has changed, you need to check your Irlen color prescription yearly. Body changes such as growth hormones, illness or being on a different medication change the chemical balance of the brain and so can change your optimum color. Tints in Irlen glasses, just like any other tints, can also change with time with exposure to the sun.
A LITTLE change in color can actually make a BIG difference to someone with Irlen Syndrome.
Tabitha’s old Irlen glasses contained a lot of pink, some green, grey and brown. She said that they now felt too dark for her when driving at night or going to the Movies. Her new Irlen color contained less pink, less grey, more green, no brown and a new color – blue. A BIG CHANGE.
Tabitha reported back to me a few weeks later how she found the new Irlen color:
“I love my new glasses! This new tint has had an amazing effect on so many parts of my life! The most obvious would be my DRIVING and COLOR DIFFERENTIATION. Driving at night is a whole new experience! I decided to surprise my sister and come in for her performance at a football game last night. The trip took three hours and for the first time ever, I didn’t get sleepy, I never once hugged the sides of my lane or drifted. I even called my mom after it was completely dark and said “OMG did you know you could see curbs AT NIGHT?!” I can’t tell you how many times I’ve gone up on a curb when turning right, especially at night. Another noticeable difference was at the Texas A&M football game against Northwestern State University. The colors for NWSU are purple, orange, and white. Without my glasses, I assumed their colors were black and yellow looking at their football team’s uniforms. When putting on my glasses, I was amazed to see the brilliant purple of their uniform’s pants and the orange accents on their equipment. I’M IN LOVE WITH MY NEW GLASSES and really wanted to thank you and the Krist Irlen Syndrome clinic for changing the way I see the world, literally and figuratively.
Thank you again”
